Stakes sized to your bankroll, not your mood.

Tell Unitley what you are starting with, how big a unit is and how much risk you take. Every suggested stake, in the console, in Claude or from any agent, is sized from it and held under your limits.

01Risk profiles

Three profiles, none of them full Kelly.

Kelly sizing says how much of a bankroll to bet to grow it fastest, if your chance is exactly right. It never is, so every profile bets a fraction of it, under a hard cap per bet.

  • 01

    Conservative

The smallest bets and the smallest swings. Your bankroll grows slowly.
    • Quarter Kelly: 25% of the full Kelly stake
    • At most 2% of your bankroll on one bet
  • 02The default

    Balanced

Medium bets. Steady growth with swings you'll notice but can ride out.
    • Third Kelly: 33.3% of the full Kelly stake
    • At most 3% of your bankroll on one bet
  • 03

    Aggressive

The biggest bets. Faster growth when you're right, sharper drops when you're not.
    • Half Kelly: 50% of the full Kelly stake
    • At most 5% of your bankroll on one bet

02Bankroll and units

One bankroll, one unit.

Your bankroll is what you started with plus every settled result. Stakes are shown in dollars and in units, so a bet reads the same at any size.

% of bankroll
A unit grows and shrinks with your bankroll. Anywhere from 0.1% to 10%.
Flat $
A unit is the same dollar amount every bet. It cannot be more than your bankroll.
At a glance
The Bankroll page shows your bankroll, unit size, open exposure and ROI, the room left under your loss limits over the last 24 hours and the last 7 days, and your risk profile's rules.

03Caps and loss limits

Limits that hold the stake down.

Every suggested stake goes through the same checks, and the smallest wins. The checks that held it down are named with it.

  1. 01

    Your profile's fraction of Kelly

From your chance and the price. No edge means no stake.

  2. 02

    Your profile's cap

No more than its share of your bankroll on one bet.

  3. 03

    Your max stake

A dollar ceiling of your own, if you set one.

  4. 04

Your daily and weekly loss limits

The room left under each: the limit, less what you have lost in the last 24 hours or 7 days, less the stakes of bets still open, since they are already at risk.

Warnings, not a lock

Loss limits shape every suggestion, and the Bankroll page shows the room left over the last 24 hours and the last 7 days. But Unitley does not place bets, so it cannot stop one: log a bet past a limit and it is recorded with a warning, because it has already been placed at the book.

Bet within your limits

If betting stops being fun, set lower limits or take a break. Help is at 1-800-GAMBLER and ncpgambling.org. More on responsible gambling.

04Try the math

Kelly, without an account.

The Kelly calculator does the same sizing on numbers you type in, and the guides explain it.
